WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

My name is Ashley Bila, and I am 19-years old.  I am from Laingsburg, Michigan, and I am a sophomore at Central Michigan University studying Exercise Science/Kinesiology on a Pre-PA route.  Along with my education, I play softball at CMU.  I have been a certified personal trainer for two years and have trained many clients from middle school to the elderly.  Not only am I a personal trainer, but I have been working out 3 – 4 times per week for 8 years to reach my goals.  Along with playing softball my whole life, I have also played soccer, basketball, volleyball, and have been involved in gymnastics, track, cross-country, dance, and cheer.

What is your greatest fitness achievement?

One of my greatest fitness achievements that come to mind is proving that, even among Division 1 athletes, size doesn’t determine strength – hard work and consistency do.  I have shown through my dedication that I can be stronger and more confident than many who were expected to lift more than me.

What motivates you?

Competition is a big motivator for me.  It helps me set goals and reach milestones.  Another driving force for me is seeing the growth from the process of becoming 1% better each day.  I have learned resilience, determination, and discipline through all of the   sports I have played as well as in the weight room

How did you develop your program?

My workouts are structured based specifically on the goals, flexibility, and strength of each individual client.  Over time, we will build up to their ultimate goals.  We will start with functional strength learning each movement and what it does for our body and then develop the weight and speed.  Some exercises will be based on higher rep counts and lower weight or the opposite.

What are your specialties?

My specialties in the weight room start with knowing the correct form and proper training needed to benefit my clients to reach their goals.  I understand what exercises will build strength, tone muscles, and improve stability.  In the gym, I understand what parts of your body need to improve strength in order to develop certain movements.  Outside of the weight room, I really understand sports, both the IQ of the game and the athletic ability needed.

What's your training style?

My training style is supportive but challenging.  The approach of training will be decided by the wants and needs of my clients.  For someone looking to play college sports, I can help them develop their physical training and their mental toughness.  Overcoming mental barriers is sometimes more challenging than the exercise itself.  For a middle-aged client, I will focus more on fundamentals and flexibility, making sure the movements they are doing is not hurting their body.  Being able to move correctly and maintain strength as we get older is the foundation of long-term health and independence.

How do you set & track goals for your clients?

I will start by talking with my client about their goals, lifestyle, and fitness level.  We will then start with basic movements to see exercise patterns and develop a plan from there.  Once we have a goal, we will specifically evaluate that goal every week or two to see the measurable progress we are making.  This might be through hitting a personal record or dropping a few pounds to get closer to their ultimate goal.

Why will your services be worth it for clients?

My personal training will help you stay consistent and accountable while building strength, confidence, and proper form through workouts that fit your lifestyle.
