MEET KAREN!

Picture of Fitness Trainer Casey Greer

What's your story?

I live in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I’m 52 years old – a retired
public school teacher. I currently teach KinderPrep at a private school. My favorite hobbies are camping, exercising, reading and spending time with family (not in that
order). I have recently taken up crafting and painting which is a new interest – not sure it’s a favorite yet. I have a few favorite movies, but the two that remain for all
time are Gremlins and An Officer and a Gentleman. I like any type of food and I enjoy cooking when I have time.
What motivates you to live a healthy lifestyle?
My grandparents and my father
have all had serious health issues: heart, diabetes, breathing and extra weight. I’ve
also always been active. I like being able to do at 50 what I couldn’t do at 25 or 30
or… I continue to get stronger and healthier rather than falling apart as I age. I want
to keep up with my children and grandchildren rather than sitting on the sidelines.
Which group exercise classes do you teach?
I teach Metafit and scale down. I, at times, teach the walking and running clubs as well.
How do you make your exercise classes FUN?
I am not so sure that I am fun! LOL! I have high expectations and I expect my people to perform. I’m excellent at modifying and encouraging everyone. I want every person to succeed and that comes through in my teaching.
How will your exercise classes help individuals who join achieve a HEALTHY
lifestyle?
My Metafit class is a HIIT class that builds cardio, strength and endurance. It is a way for a person to challenge him/herself to improve. The scale down group is a way for like-minded people to encourage each other to succeed.
It’s not just about the scales but total body health – mental and physical. Run club and walk clubs are a way for individuals to set and achieve personal fitness goals through timings, varied workouts and accountability – and, I very much, hold people accountable!!!

How will your group exercise classes benefit individuals who join OVERALL?
I want all people to grow and succeed in all parts of their life. My classes are meant
to develop the whole person while helping individuals face walls and surmount
them.
